Can i get a broken philips hdtv fixed?
We bought a $900 philips flat screen tv last year. I was threw a ball that hit it and the screen is all webbed looking. It looks fine when not on so it didn't go through the screen. I just want to know if it is fixable and how much?
Basically what you just did is wrecked the LCD panel. This is the equivalent of wrecking a car to the point where it will need a whole new engine, usually it's totaled.
The LCD panel will have to be replaced, but this will probably exceed the value of the television.

Phillips new Ambilight 56PFL9954 is the first LCD TV to match Cinemascope's aspect ratio of 21:9 (2.39:1). Unlike 16:9 aspect ratio more commonly found in wide-screen televisions, this set can display movies with no black bars. Blu-Ray and DVD disks are designed around 16:9, including the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, so the Ambilight has a process to remove them automatically. Resolution is a staggering 2560 x 1080p, and upscaling works well, without the jagged edges or fuzziness normally associated with the process.
With only a millisecond-long refresh time, Philips claims the new Ambilight is the fastest LCD TV on the market. Motion blur is almost nonexistent at this speed. The Philips 56PFL9954 also has a 80,000:1 contrast ratio putting it near the top, while shading is near plasma performance. Like other Ambilight sets, light shines from the top and sides of the screen's back to match the overall colour on the screen, helping increase the appearance of contrast.
Because of its curious aspect ratio, most broadcast TV will have black bars on the sides, even at 1080p; this can be stretched to fill the screen, but it also means the image is distorted slightly. This may not be noticeable for regular television, but this process doesn't display a few of the bars on the top and bottom of the image, which can cut off news scrolls and status displays in video games. While the Ambilight offers the usual array of setting to satisfy videophiles, there is also a much simpler mode in which pictures are displayed on-screen showing the different settings: to adjust a setting, simply pick the picture which looks the best.
Despite a diagonal measurement of 56 inches, the screen's wide format means that the height is about the same as a regular 42 inch screen. This size has another benefit: there's plenty of room for speakers. The set's Virtual Dolby surround sound provided by two woofers and two tweeters. While better than most flat screen TV's, a separate surround sound system is really the way to go, especially if you want to match audio quality with the 56PFL9954's visuals.
Computer connections are plentiful on the 56PFL9954, including Ethernet, USB, and 802.11g Wi-Fi. Unlike other brands, Philips' NetTV software has a full browser, allowing users to do everyday web tasks, as well as view on-line video services like YouTube and BBC iPlayer. There is also support for MP3, WMA, JPEG, AVI, WMV, and all manner of MPEG files. Video can enter via five HDMI connectors, two Scart connectors, and one CAM slot, while speakers can be added with its coaxial digital output.
The 56PFL9954's stands out from other high-end LCD TV's thanks to its extra-wide screen, designed around fitting movies across the entire display. Aside from movie viewing, the TV's performance is excellent. This is backed by an extensive array of supported connections, as well as good support for on-line video.
